The technique of papermaking came into existence in China in 105 BC. Later, known as the "white art", it spread to Korea and Japan. It further expanded via the Arabs to cultural regions in the Near East and North Africa. The technique finally made its way to Europe through Italy and Spain.

The paper mill of Szentendre is a UNIQUE PLACE OF INTEREST.

The paper mill was established in 1985 and is under the protection of international trade-mark. The workshop's founder and owner, Laszlo Vincze, is a paper engineer; a Pro Urbe laureate awarded by the city of Szentendre; a member of the National Association of Hungarian Creative Artists, himself is a design graphic artist. Laszlo is a proud father of his three sons - hopeful successors.
The family owned business endeavours to follow the most noble handcraft traditions. It uses a 2000-year-old technique to manufacture long life and acid-free quality paper.
